Swiss Chard and Feta Pie
This delicious Swiss chard and feta pie is a savory dish filled with flavorful greens and creamy feta cheese.
Ingredients - Serves 6
- Butter - 1/4 cup, melted
- Phyllo dough - 6 sheets
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Dill - 1 tablespoon, chopped
- Milk - 1/2 cup
- Eggs - 4
- Feta cheese - 1 cup, crumbled
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Onion - 1, diced
- Swiss chard - 1 bunch, stems removed and leaves chopped
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the diced onion and minced garlic, and sauté until the onion is translucent.
- Add the chopped Swiss chard leaves to the skillet and cook until wilted, about 5 minutes.
- Remove the skillet from heat and let the mixture cool slightly.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, chopped dill, salt, and pepper.
- Add the crumbled feta cheese to the egg mixture and stir to combine.
- Grease a pie dish with butter.
- Layer 3 sheets of phyllo dough in the pie dish, brushing each sheet with melted butter.
- Spread half of the Swiss chard mixture over the phyllo dough.
- Pour half of the egg and feta mixture over the Swiss chard.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining phyllo dough, Swiss chard mixture, and egg and feta mixture.
- Fold the excess phyllo dough over the top of the pie to create a rustic crust.
- Brush the top of the pie with melted butter.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the filling is set.
- Allow the pie to cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
