Svartidauði
Svartidauði is a traditional Icelandic dessert made with dark chocolate and sea salt.
Ingredients - Serves 8
- Sea salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- All-purpose flour - 50g
- Eggs - 2
- Sugar - 100g
- Butter - 100g
- Dark chocolate - 200g, chopped
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish.
- In a heatproof bowl, melt the dark chocolate and butter together over a pot of simmering water, stirring until smooth.
- Remove the bowl from heat and stir in the sugar until well combined.
- Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Fold in the flour and sea salt until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the greased baking dish and spread it evenly.
- Bake for 10 minutes, or until the edges are set but the center is still slightly gooey.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
- Serve warm with a sprinkle of sea salt on top.
