Garlic Herb Focaccia
This homemade garlic herb focaccia is a flavorful and easy to make Italian flatbread that's soft on the inside and wonderfully crispy on the outside.
Ingredients - Serves 8
- Sea salt - For sprinkling
- Fresh thyme - 1 tablespoon, chopped
- Fresh rosemary - 1 tablespoon, chopped
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Salt - 2 teaspoons
- Olive oil - 1/4 cup
- All-purpose flour - 3 1/2 cups
- Active dry yeast - 1 packet
- Sugar - 1 teaspoon
- Warm water - 1 1/3 cups
Let's Get Started
- In a large bowl, combine the warm water and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast over the top and let it sit for 5 minutes, or until it's foamy.
- Add the flour, olive oil, and salt to the yeast mixture. Stir until a dough forms.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes, or until it's smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until it's doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Punch down the dough and press it into a greased baking sheet.
- In a small bowl, combine the minced garlic, chopped rosemary, and chopped thyme. Sprinkle this mixture over the top of the dough, then gently press it into the dough with your fingers.
- Drizzle the top of the dough with a little more olive oil and sprinkle with sea salt.
- Bake for 20 minutes, or until the focaccia is golden brown. Let it cool slightly before cutting and serving.
