Ingredients - Serves 2
- Tomato - 1, sliced
- Lettuce - 4 leaves
- Dijon mustard - 1 tablespoon
- Mayonnaise - 2 tablespoons
- Provolone cheese - 4 slices
- Ciabatta bread - 1 loaf, sliced
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Onion - 1 large, thinly sliced
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Steak - 12 ounces
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the grill or grill pan to medium-high heat.
- Season the steak with salt and pepper.
- Grill the steak for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until desired doneness. Let it rest for a few minutes, then slice it thinly against the grain.
- In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook until caramelized, about 10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
- In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise and Dijon mustard to make the aioli sauce.
- Spread the aioli sauce on one side of each slice of ciabatta bread.
- Layer the sliced steak, caramelized onions, provolone cheese, lettuce, and tomato on one slice of bread. Top with another slice of bread.
- Heat a panini press or skillet over medium heat. Place the sandwich in the press or skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, until the bread is toasted and the cheese is melted.
- Remove from heat, slice the sandwich in half, and serve hot.
