Ingredients - Serves 24
- Black icing - For decorating
- Orange candy melts - 24 pieces
- Mini chocolate chips - 48 pieces
- Milk - 2 tablespoons
- Powdered sugar - 1 cup
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Baking powder - 1 teaspoon
- All-purpose flour - 2 1/2 cups
- Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
- Egg - 1
- Granulated sugar - 1 cup
- Butter - 1 cup, softened
Let's Get Started
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg and vanilla extract to the bowl and mix until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.
- Divide the dough into two equal portions and shape each portion into a disc. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out one disc of dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness.
- Use a snowman-shaped cookie cutter to cut out snowman shapes from the dough. Place the cut-out cookies onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Remove from the oven and let cool completely on a wire rack.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar and milk to make the icing.
- Spread a thin layer of icing on each cooled cookie.
- Place two mini chocolate chips on each cookie for the eyes, and one orange candy melt for the nose.
- Use black icing to draw a mouth and buttons on each snowman cookie.
- Allow the icing to set before serving or storing the cookies.
