Sloppy Joe Sandwich
This classic Sloppy Joe sandwich is made with ground beef, onions, bell peppers, and a tangy tomato sauce.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Hamburger buns - 4
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Mustard - 1 tablespoon
- Worcestershire sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Brown sugar - 2 tablespoons
- Ketchup - 1/4 cup
- Tomato sauce - 1 cup
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Green bell pepper - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Ground beef - 1 pound
Let's Get Started
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.
- Add the chopped onion, bell pepper, and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until the vegetables are tender, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in the tomato sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Toast the hamburger buns if desired.
- Spoon the sloppy joe mixture onto the bottom half of each hamburger bun. Top with the other half of the bun.
