Scandinavian Knackebrod
Scandinavian Knäckebröd is a traditional Swedish crispbread that is thin, crispy, and full of flavor.
Ingredients - Serves 20
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Water - 1 cup
- Fennel seeds - 1 tablespoon
- Caraway seeds - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- All-purpose flour - 1/2 cup
- Whole wheat flour - 1 cup
- Rye flour - 1 cup
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the rye flour, whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, salt, caraway seeds, and fennel seeds.
- Add the water and olive oil to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.
- Divide the dough into 4 equal portions.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out each portion of dough into a thin rectangle.
- Transfer the rolled-out dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Using a fork, prick the dough all over to prevent it from puffing up during baking.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and crispy.
- Remove from the oven and let cool completely on a wire rack.
- Once cooled, break the crispbread into smaller pieces and store in an airtight container.
