Ingredients - Serves 8

Let's Get Started

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in the warm water. Let sit for 5 minutes, or until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until a dough forms.
  3. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean towel, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven while it preheats.
  6. Punch down the dough and turn it out onto a floured surface. Divide it into 2 equal pieces and roll each piece into a large circle.
  7. If using a pizza stone, transfer one of the dough circles onto a pizza peel or an inverted baking sheet dusted with flour. If not using a stone, place the dough on a greased or parchment-lined baking sheet.
  8. Spread half of the tomato sauce over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges for the crust. Sprinkle with half of the cheese and add your desired toppings.
  9. If using a pizza stone, carefully slide the pizza onto the preheated stone in the oven. If not using a stone, simply place the baking sheet in the oven.
  10. Bake for about 10-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
  11. Repeat with the remaining dough and toppings.
  12. Let the pizzas cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
