Scacciata is a traditional Sicilian stuffed bread, filled with delicious ingredients like cheese, tomatoes, and onions. It's a perfect main course or snack.
Ingredients - Serves 6
- Parmesan cheese - 50 g, grated
- Mozzarella cheese - 200 g, shredded
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Onions - 2, chopped
- Tomatoes - 500 g, chopped
- Bread dough - 1 kg
Let's Get Started
- Prepare the bread dough and let it rise for about 2 hours.
- In a pan, heat the olive oil and sauté the onions until they become translucent.
- Add the chopped tomatoes, salt, and pepper to the pan and cook for about 10 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (392°F).
- Divide the dough into two parts. Roll out one part and place it in a greased baking dish.
- Spread the tomato and onion mixture over the dough, then sprinkle with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
- Roll out the second part of the dough and place it on top of the filling. Seal the edges of the dough together.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 40 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown.
