Saffron Rice with Basmati Rice
This aromatic saffron rice is made with fragrant basmati rice and infused with the flavors of saffron.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Bay leaf - 1
- Cloves - 2
- Cardamom pods - 2
- Cinnamon stick - 1
- Butter - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Water - 2 cups
- Saffron threads - 1/2 teaspoon
- Basmati rice - 1 cup
Let's Get Started
- Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
- In a small bowl, soak the saffron threads in 2 tablespoons of warm water for 10 minutes.
- In a medium pot, bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Add the soaked saffron threads along with the water.
- Add the rinsed basmati rice, salt, butter, cinnamon stick, cardamom pods, cloves, and bay leaf to the pot.
- Stir well and bring the mixture to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes or until the rice is cooked and the liquid is absorbed.
- Remove the pot from heat and let it sit, covered, for 5 minutes.
- Fluff the rice with a fork and remove the cinnamon stick, cardamom pods, cloves, and bay leaf before serving.
- Serve the saffron rice hot as a delicious side dish.
