Saffron Rice with Basmati Rice

Ingredients - Serves 4

Let's Get Started

  1. Rinse the basmati rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. In a small bowl, soak the saffron threads in 2 tablespoons of warm water for 10 minutes.
  3. In a medium pot, bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Add the soaked saffron threads along with the water.
  4. Add the rinsed basmati rice, salt, butter, cinnamon stick, cardamom pods, cloves, and bay leaf to the pot.
  5. Stir well and bring the mixture to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes or until the rice is cooked and the liquid is absorbed.
  6. Remove the pot from heat and let it sit, covered, for 5 minutes.
  7. Fluff the rice with a fork and remove the cinnamon stick, cardamom pods, cloves, and bay leaf before serving.
  8. Serve the saffron rice hot as a delicious side dish.
