Saag
Saag Paneer is a classic Indian dish made with spinach and paneer cheese.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Fresh cilantro - For garnish
- Oil - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - To taste
- Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Green chili - 1, finely chopped
- Tomato - 1 medium, chopped
- Ginger - 1-inch piece, grated
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Paneer cheese - 8 oz, cubed
- Spinach - 1 lb, washed and chopped
Let's Get Started
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
- Add chopped onion, garlic, and ginger. Sauté until onions turn golden brown.
- Add chopped tomato and green chili. Cook until tomatoes are soft.
- Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, and salt. Mix well.
- Add chopped spinach and cook until wilted.
- Transfer the mixture to a blender and blend until smooth.
- Return the mixture to the pan and add cubed paneer cheese.
- Cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Sprinkle garam masala and mix well.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro.
- Serve hot with rice or naan bread.
