Ingredients - Serves 4

Let's Get Started

  1. Lay the beef slices flat and spread mustard evenly on each slice.
  2. Sprinkle chopped onions over the mustard.
  3. Place a dill pickle spear on top of the onions.
  4. Roll up each slice tightly and secure with toothpicks.
  5. Wrap a slice of bacon around each rolled-up beef slice.
  6. In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
  7. Add the rouladen and brown on all sides.
  8. Remove the rouladen from the skillet and set aside.
  9. In the same skillet, add flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  10. Gradually add beef broth and red wine, stirring to combine.
  11. Return the rouladen to the skillet and bring the liquid to a boil.
  12. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the beef is tender.
  13. Remove the toothpicks from the rouladen before serving.
  14. Serve the rouladen with the gravy from the skillet.
