- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Dijon mustard - 2 tablespoons
- Brown sugar - 1/4 cup
- Bourbon - 1/4 cup
- Maple syrup - 1 cup
- Chicken broth - 2 cups
- Butter - 1/2 cup, melted
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Whole turkey - 1 (12 pound)
Let's Get Started
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
- Season the turkey with salt and pepper, then place it on a rack in a roasting pan.
- Brush the turkey with half of the melted butter, then pour the chicken broth into the bottom of the pan.
- Roast the turkey in the preheated oven for 2 hours.
- While the turkey is roasting, combine the maple syrup, bourbon, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, and minced garlic in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Bring the glaze to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low and cook for 10 minutes, until it has thickened slightly.
- After the turkey has roasted for 2 hours, brush it with the remaining melted butter and half of the maple bourbon glaze.
- Return the turkey to the oven and roast for another hour, basting it with the remaining glaze every 15 minutes.
- The turkey is done when an instant-read thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the thigh reads 165°F (74°C).
- Let the turkey rest for 20 minutes before carving. Serve with the remaining maple bourbon glaze on the side.
