Roasted Turkey with Maple Bourbon Glaze

Ingredients - Serves 8

Let's Get Started

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. Season the turkey with salt and pepper, then place it on a rack in a roasting pan.
  3. Brush the turkey with half of the melted butter, then pour the chicken broth into the bottom of the pan.
  4. Roast the turkey in the preheated oven for 2 hours.
  5. While the turkey is roasting, combine the maple syrup, bourbon, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, and minced garlic in a saucepan over medium heat.
  6. Bring the glaze to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low and cook for 10 minutes, until it has thickened slightly.
  7. After the turkey has roasted for 2 hours, brush it with the remaining melted butter and half of the maple bourbon glaze.
  8. Return the turkey to the oven and roast for another hour, basting it with the remaining glaze every 15 minutes.
  9. The turkey is done when an instant-read thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the thigh reads 165°F (74°C).
  10. Let the turkey rest for 20 minutes before carving. Serve with the remaining maple bourbon glaze on the side.
