Rice Dumplings
Delicious and traditional Asian rice dumplings, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Cooking wine - 1 tablespoon
- Sugar - 1 teaspoon
- White pepper - 1 teaspoon
- Oyster sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Dried shrimps - 50 grams, soaked
- Dried shiitake mushrooms - 8, soaked and sliced
- Salted egg yolks - 4
- Pork belly - 200 grams, cut into small pieces
- Dried bamboo leaves - 20
- Glutinous rice - 2 cups
Let's Get Started
- Soak the glutinous rice and bamboo leaves in water overnight.
- Marinate the pork belly with soy sauce, oyster sauce, white pepper, sugar, and cooking wine for at least 1 hour.
- Boil the bamboo leaves for 5 minutes, then drain and set aside.
- Take two bamboo leaves and overlap them. Fold them into a cone shape.
- Fill the cone with a layer of rice, then add the pork, egg yolk, mushrooms, and shrimps. Top with another layer of rice.
- Fold the leaves over the rice and secure with a string.
- Repeat with the remaining ingredients.
- Steam the dumplings for 2 hours.
- Let them cool before unwrapping and serving.
