Ingredients - Serves 4

Let's Get Started

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add the onion and garlic and cook until the onions are soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the chicken pieces to the pot and brown on all sides.
  4. Add the turmeric, ginger, salt, and pepper to the pot and stir to coat the chicken.
  5. Add the lentils and enough water to cover the ingredients. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 30 minutes.
  6. Add the msemen bread to the pot and stir to combine. Continue to simmer for another 15 minutes, until the bread has absorbed the liquid and the dish has a thick, stew-like consistency.
  7. Stir in the chopped parsley and coriander just before serving.
