- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric - 1 teaspoon
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Onion - 1 large, finely chopped
- Msemen bread - 4 pieces, torn into chunks
- Lentils - 1 cup, soaked overnight

Let's Get Started
- Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
- Add the onion and garlic and cook until the onions are soft and translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add the chicken pieces to the pot and brown on all sides.
- Add the turmeric, ginger, salt, and pepper to the pot and stir to coat the chicken.
- Add the lentils and enough water to cover the ingredients. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 30 minutes.
- Add the msemen bread to the pot and stir to combine. Continue to simmer for another 15 minutes, until the bread has absorbed the liquid and the dish has a thick, stew-like consistency.
- Stir in the chopped parsley and coriander just before serving.
