Pyongyang Onban is a traditional North Korean dish made with rice, vegetables, and meat.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Green onions - 2, chopped
- Black pepper - To taste
- Salt - To taste
- Sesame oil - 2 tablespoons
- Soy sauce - 3 tablespoons
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Onion - 1, thinly sliced
- Cabbage - 1/2 head, thinly sliced
- Carrots - 2, julienned
- Beef - 1 pound, thinly sliced
- Short-grain rice - 2 cups
Let's Get Started
- Cook the rice according to package instructions.
- In a large skillet, heat the sesame oil over medium heat.
- Add the beef and cook until browned.
- Add the carrots, cabbage, onion, and garlic. Cook until the vegetables are tender.
- Add the cooked rice to the skillet and mix well.
- Season with soy sauce, salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine.
- Cook for an additional 5 minutes, or until heated through.
- Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
