Poutine Mac and Cheese
A delicious fusion of two comfort food classics: poutine and macaroni and cheese. This dish is the ultimate comfort food, combining crispy fries, cheese curds, rich gravy, and creamy mac and cheese.
Ingredients - Serves 6
- Gravy - 2 cups
- Cheese curds - 1 cup
- French fries - 4 cups, cooked
- Cheddar cheese - 2 cups, shredded
- Milk - 2 cups
- All-purpose flour - 2 tablespoons
- Butter - 2 tablespoons
- Macaroni - 2 cups
Let's Get Started
- Cook the macaroni according to the package instructions, then drain and set aside.
- In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour to make a roux, then gradually whisk in the milk. Bring to a simmer, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the shredded cheddar until melted and smooth. Add the cooked macaroni and stir until well coated.
- Spread the cooked french fries in a large baking dish. Top with the mac and cheese, then sprinkle the cheese curds over the top.
- Pour the gravy evenly over the top of the dish.
- Bake at 350°F for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese curds are melted and the gravy is bubbling.
- Serve hot, with additional gravy on the side if desired.
