Let's Get Started

  1. Cook the macaroni according to the package instructions, then drain and set aside.
  2. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour to make a roux, then gradually whisk in the milk. Bring to a simmer, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens.
  3. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the shredded cheddar until melted and smooth. Add the cooked macaroni and stir until well coated.
  4. Spread the cooked french fries in a large baking dish. Top with the mac and cheese, then sprinkle the cheese curds over the top.
  5. Pour the gravy evenly over the top of the dish.
  6. Bake at 350°F for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese curds are melted and the gravy is bubbling.
  7. Serve hot, with additional gravy on the side if desired.
