Let's Get Started

  1. Heat a little oil in the potjie pot and brown the beef cubes on all sides. Remove and set aside.
  2. In the same pot, add the onions and garlic and sauté until soft.
  3. Return the beef to the pot and add the carrots, potatoes, green beans, beef stock, red wine, bay leaves, salt, and pepper.
  4. Cover the pot and simmer over a low heat for about 4 hours, or until the meat is tender and the flavors are well combined.
  5. Serve the potjiekos hot, straight from the pot.
