Pizza Chiena
Pizza Chiena, also known as Italian Easter Pie, is a savory dish filled with meats and cheeses, and encased in a flaky pie crust.
Ingredients - Serves 8
- Black pepper - 1 teaspoon
- Eggs - 4
- Parmesan cheese - 1/2 cup, grated
- Mozzarella cheese - 1/2 pound, shredded
- Ricotta cheese - 1 pound
- Salami - 1/2 pound, diced
- Ham - 1/2 pound, diced
- Italian sausage - 1 pound
- Pie crust - 2, ready-made
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 375°F.
- In a large skillet, cook the sausage over medium heat until browned. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, cook the ham and salami until browned. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- In a large bowl, combine the ricotta, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheeses. Add the eggs and black pepper and mix well.
- Add the cooked sausage, ham, and salami to the cheese mixture and stir to combine.
- Place one pie crust in the bottom of a deep-dish pie plate. Pour the filling into the crust.
- Place the second pie crust on top of the filling. Crimp the edges of the crusts together to seal.
- Bake for 1 hour, or until the crust is golden and the filling is set.
- Let the pie cool for at least 15 minutes before slicing and serving.
