Pirarucu de Casaca
Pirarucu de Casaca is a traditional Brazilian dish from the Amazon region, made with dried pirarucu fish, bananas, and cassava flour.
Ingredients - Serves 6
- Hard-boiled eggs - 2, sliced
- Parsley - 1 bunch, chopped
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
- Onions - 2, chopped
- Cassava flour - 2 cups
- Bananas - 6, sliced
- Dried pirarucu fish - 500 grams
Let's Get Started
- Soak the dried pirarucu in water for 24 hours, changing the water several times.
- Drain the fish and shred it into small pieces.
- Heat the olive oil in a large pan and sauté the onions and garlic until soft.
- Add the fish to the pan and cook for a few minutes.
- Add the bananas and cook until they are soft.
- Gradually add the cassava flour, stirring constantly to prevent lumps from forming.
- Season with salt and pepper and stir in the chopped parsley.
- Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and top with the sliced hard-boiled eggs.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 20 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
