Philly Chicken Sandwich
This Philly chicken sandwich is a delicious twist on the classic Philly cheesesteak, made with tender chicken, sautéed peppers and onions, and melted cheese.
Ingredients - Serves 2
- Dijon mustard - 1 tablespoon
- Mayonnaise - 2 tablespoons
- Hoagie rolls - 2
- Provolone cheese - 4 slices
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Onion - 1, thinly sliced
- Green bell pepper - 1, thinly sliced
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Chicken breasts - 2 boneless, skinless
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the grill or a skillet over medium-high heat.
- Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
- Drizzle olive oil over the chicken breasts and rub to coat.
- Grill the chicken breasts for 6-8 minutes per side, or until cooked through.
- Remove the chicken from the grill and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing.
- In the meantime, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Add the sliced peppers and onions to the skillet and sauté until they are soft and slightly caramelized, about 5-7 minutes.
- Slice the hoagie rolls in half lengthwise and spread mayonnaise and Dijon mustard on both sides.
- Place the sliced chicken on the bottom half of each roll.
- Top the chicken with the sautéed peppers and onions.
- Place 2 slices of provolone cheese on top of the peppers and onions.
- Close the sandwiches with the top halves of the rolls.
- If desired, you can wrap the sandwiches in foil and heat them in a preheated oven at 350°F for 5 minutes to melt the cheese.
- Serve the Philly chicken sandwiches warm and enjoy!
