Philly Cheese Chicken Sandwich
This Philly Cheese Chicken Sandwich is a delicious twist on the classic Philly cheesesteak, made with tender chicken, sautéed peppers and onions, and melted cheese.
Ingredients - Serves 2
- Dijon mustard - 1 tablespoon
- Mayonnaise - 2 tablespoons
- Hoagie rolls - 2
- Provolone cheese - 4 slices
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Onion - 1, thinly sliced
- Green bell pepper - 1, thinly sliced
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Chicken breasts - 2 boneless, skinless
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the grill or stovetop grill pan over medium-high heat.
- Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
- Grill the chicken for 6-8 minutes per side, or until cooked through.
- Remove the chicken from the grill and let it rest for a few minutes.
- While the chicken is resting, heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Add the sliced bell pepper and onion to the skillet and sauté until softened and slightly caramelized, about 5-7 minutes.
- Slice the chicken breasts into thin strips.
- Split the hoagie rolls in half and spread mayonnaise and Dijon mustard on the bottom halves.
- Layer the sliced chicken, sautéed peppers and onions, and provolone cheese on top of the bottom halves of the rolls.
- Place the sandwiches under the broiler for 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from the broiler and place the top halves of the rolls on the sandwiches.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
