Pepper Sauce
This homemade pepper sauce is a spicy and flavorful condiment that pairs well with a variety of dishes.
Ingredients - Serves 8
- Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Sugar - 1 tablespoon
- White vinegar - 1/2 cup
- Onion - 1 small, chopped
- Garlic - 4 cloves
- Jalapeno peppers - 2
- Red bell peppers - 4
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 400°F.
- Cut the red bell peppers and jalapeno peppers in half lengthwise and remove the seeds and membranes.
- Place the peppers on a baking sheet, cut side down, and roast in the oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the skins are charred and blistered.
- Remove the peppers from the oven and let them cool. Once cooled, peel off the skins and discard.
- In a blender or food processor, combine the roasted peppers, garlic, onion, white vinegar, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Blend until smooth.
- Heat the olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the pepper mixture and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Remove from heat and let the pepper sauce cool before transferring it to a jar or bottle.
- Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
- Serve the pepper sauce as a condiment with grilled meats, sandwiches, or as a spicy dip.
