Pastel de Yuca

Ingredients - Serves 6

Let's Get Started

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. Boil the yuca in a large pot of salted water until tender. Drain and mash until smooth.
  3. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic over medium heat until the beef is browned and the onion is soft.
  4. Add the tomato, cumin, salt, and pepper to the skillet and cook for another 5 minutes.
  5. Grease a baking dish with 2 tablespoons of the butter. Spread half of the mashed yuca in the bottom of the dish.
  6. Spread the beef mixture over the yuca, then top with the remaining yuca.
  7. Dot the top of the casserole with the remaining butter and sprinkle with the shredded cheese.
  8. Bake for 30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
