Impanata
Impanata is a traditional Italian dish, similar to a calzone. It's a stuffed bread or pastry that's baked or fried, filled with a variety of ingredients.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Egg - 1, beaten
- Parmesan cheese - 50 grams, grated
- Mozzarella cheese - 200 grams, shredded
- Tomato sauce - 1 cup
- Onions - 2, chopped
- Ground beef - 200 grams
- Bread dough - 500 grams
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Roll out the bread dough into a large circle.
- In a pan, cook the ground beef and onions until the beef is browned and the onions are soft.
- Add the tomato sauce to the pan and simmer for 10 minutes.
- Spread the beef mixture over half of the dough, leaving a border around the edge.
- Sprinkle the mozzarella and Parmesan cheese over the beef mixture.
- Fold the other half of the dough over the filling and seal the edges.
- Brush the top of the impanata with the beaten egg.
- Bake for 30 minutes, or until the impanata is golden brown.
