  1. Cook the spaghetti in a large pot of boiling salted water until al dente.
  2. Meanwhile, heat the olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the garlic and cook until fragrant.
  3. Add the chopped tomatoes to the pan and cook until they start to break down and form a sauce.
  4. Drain the spaghetti, reserving some of the pasta water.
  5. Add the spaghetti to the pan with the sauce and toss to combine. If the sauce is too thick, add some of the reserved pasta water.
  6. Stir in the chopped basil and season with salt and pepper.
  7. Serve the pasta with a sprinkling of Parmesan cheese.
