Paksiw Na Bangus
Paksiw na Bangus is a Filipino dish made with milkfish cooked in vinegar, garlic, ginger, and spices.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Cooking oil - 2 tablespoons
- Sugar - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Peppercorns - 1 teaspoon
- Onion - 1 medium-sized, sliced
- Ginger - 1 thumb-sized piece, sliced
- Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
- Water - 1/2 cup
- Vinegar - 1/2 cup
- Milkfish (bangus) - 2 medium-sized, cleaned and sliced
Let's Get Started
- In a pan, heat the cooking oil over medium heat.
- Saute the garlic, ginger, and onion until fragrant.
- Add the milkfish slices and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until lightly browned.
- Pour in the vinegar and water. Add the peppercorns, salt, and sugar.
- Cover the pan and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through and the flavors have melded together.
- Serve hot with steamed rice.
