Oyster Stew
This creamy and flavorful oyster stew is made with fresh oysters, butter, milk, and seasonings.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped (for garnish)
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Fresh oysters - 24, shucked
- Milk - 4 cups
- All-purpose flour - 1/4 cup
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Celery - 2 stalks, finely chopped
- Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Butter - 4 tablespoons
Let's Get Started
- In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onion, celery, and minced garlic. Cook until the vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.
- Sprinkle the flour over the vegetables and stir well to combine.
- Gradually pour in the milk, stirring constantly to prevent lumps.
- Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 5 minutes, or until thickened.
- Add the shucked oysters and their liquor to the pot. Cook for 3-4 minutes, or until the edges of the oysters curl.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve the oyster stew hot, garnished with chopped parsley.
