Onigirazu
Onigirazu is a Japanese rice sandwich filled with various ingredients and wrapped in seaweed.
Ingredients - Serves 2
- Pickled ginger - 2 tablespoons
- Wasabi - 1 tablespoon
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Vegetables (e.g. lettuce, cucumber, avocado) - 2 cups, sliced
- Protein (e.g. grilled chicken, smoked salmon, tofu) - 8 slices
- Nori seaweed sheets - 4 sheets
- Sushi rice - 2 cups, cooked
Let's Get Started
- Place a sheet of nori on a clean surface.
- Spread a layer of sushi rice evenly on the nori, leaving a small border around the edges.
- Place a layer of protein (e.g. grilled chicken, smoked salmon, tofu) on top of the rice.
- Add a layer of vegetables (e.g. lettuce, cucumber, avocado) on top of the protein.
- Drizzle soy sauce and wasabi over the filling.
- Fold the corners of the nori sheet towards the center, covering the filling.
- Wrap the onigirazu tightly in plastic wrap and let it sit for a few minutes to help it hold its shape.
- Repeat the process with the remaining ingredients to make another onigirazu.
- Slice each onigirazu in half and serve with pickled ginger on the side.
