Okonomiyaki
Okonomiyaki is a savory Japanese pancake made with cabbage, flour, and various toppings.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Aonori (dried seaweed flakes) - 1/4 cup
- Bonito flakes - 1/4 cup
- Mayonnaise - 1/4 cup
- Worcestershire sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Tenkasu (tempura scraps) - 1/4 cup
- Bacon - 8 slices, cooked and crumbled
- Green onions - 4, chopped
- Eggs - 2
- Water - 3/4 cup
- All-purpose flour - 1 cup
- Cabbage - 4 cups, shredded
Let's Get Started
- In a large bowl, combine the cabbage, flour, water, eggs, green onions, bacon, and tenkasu. Mix well.
- Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat. Grease with oil or cooking spray.
- Pour a portion of the batter onto the skillet and spread it into a round shape, about 1/2 inch thick.
- Cook for 3-4 minutes, or until the bottom is golden brown. Flip the okonomiyaki and cook for another 3-4 minutes.
- Repeat with the remaining batter to make more okonomiyaki.
- In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce and Worcestershire sauce.
- Serve the cooked okonomiyaki with a drizzle of mayonnaise, a sprinkle of bonito flakes, aonori, and the soy sauce mixture.
- Enjoy hot!
