Ingredients - Serves 4
- Peas - 1 cup
- Dashi - 2 cups
- Sake - 2 tablespoons
- Sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Mirin - 3 tablespoons
- Soy sauce - 4 tablespoons
- Carrots - 2, peeled and cut into chunks
- Onion - 1 large, cut into wedges
- Potatoes - 2 large, peeled and cut into chunks
- Beef - 200g, thinly sliced
Let's Get Started
- Heat a large pot over medium heat and add the beef. Cook until browned.
- Add the potatoes, onion, and carrots to the pot and stir to combine.
- In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, mirin, sugar, and sake. Pour this mixture over the meat and vegetables.
- Add the dashi to the pot and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and simmer for about 1 hour, or until the vegetables are tender.
- Add the peas to the pot and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
- Serve the stew hot, with rice on the side if desired.
