Nasi Lemak
Nasi Lemak is a traditional Malaysian dish made with fragrant coconut rice, served with various accompaniments.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Fried chicken - 4 pieces
- Sliced fresh chili - To taste
- Sambal sauce - 1/2 cup
- Hard-boiled eggs - 4
- Roasted peanuts - 1/2 cup
- Fried anchovies - 1 cup
- Cucumber - 1, sliced
- Salt - 1 teaspoon
- Pandan leaves - 2 leaves
- Coconut milk - 1 cup
- Rice - 2 cups
Let's Get Started
- Wash the rice and drain well.
- In a pot, combine the rice, coconut milk, pandan leaves, and salt. Cook the rice according to your preferred method (stovetop, rice cooker, etc.)
- While the rice is cooking, prepare the accompaniments. Slice the cucumber, fry the anchovies until crispy, roast the peanuts, and boil the eggs.
- Once the rice is cooked, fluff it with a fork and remove the pandan leaves.
- Serve the nasi lemak by placing a scoop of coconut rice on a plate. Arrange the cucumber slices, fried anchovies, roasted peanuts, hard-boiled eggs, and fried chicken around the rice.
- Drizzle sambal sauce over the rice and garnish with sliced fresh chili.
