Ingredients - Serves 6

Let's Get Started

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil.
  3. Mix the ingredients together until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
  6. Punch down the dough and divide it into 2 equal portions. Roll each portion into a rectangular shape, about 1/4 inch thick.
  7. Transfer the dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Using your fingertips, make indentations all over the dough.
  8. Brush the dough with olive oil and sprinkle with nigella seeds.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  10. Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving.
  11. Slice and serve the Nan-e Barbari warm with your favorite dips or spreads.
