Let's Get Started

  1. In a small bowl, combine the warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5 minutes, or until foamy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture, yogurt, and minced garlic. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough and divide it into 6 equal portions. Roll each portion into a circle, about 1/4 inch thick.
  6. Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Cook each naan for about 2 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and puffed.
  7. Brush each naan with melted butter and sprinkle with chopped cilantro.
