Naan
This homemade garlic naan is a delicious Indian bread that is soft, fluffy, and full of flavor.
Ingredients - Serves 6
- Fresh cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Butter - 2 tablespoons, melted
- Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Sugar - 1 teaspoon
- Active dry yeast - 1 teaspoon
- Warm water - 1/2 cup
- Yogurt - 1/2 cup
- All-purpose flour - 2 cups
Let's Get Started
- In a small bowl, combine the warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5 minutes, or until foamy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture, yogurt, and minced garlic. Mix until a dough forms.
- Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and divide it into 6 equal portions. Roll each portion into a circle, about 1/4 inch thick.
- Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Cook each naan for about 2 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and puffed.
- Brush each naan with melted butter and sprinkle with chopped cilantro.
