Moules Frites
Moules Frites is a classic Belgian dish consisting of steamed mussels served with crispy french fries.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Mayonnaise - 1/2 cup
- French fries - 4 cups
- Parsley - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Butter - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Shallots - 2, finely chopped
- White wine - 1 cup
- Mussels - 2 pounds
Let's Get Started
- Clean the mussels by scrubbing them under cold water and removing any beards.
- In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the shallots and garlic and cook until softened.
- Add the white wine to the pot and bring to a simmer.
- Add the mussels to the pot and cover with a lid. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the mussels have opened.
- While the mussels are cooking, prepare the french fries according to package instructions.
- Remove the mussels from the pot using a slotted spoon and transfer them to a serving bowl.
- Season the mussels with salt, pepper, and chopped parsley.
- Serve the moules frites with a side of french fries and mayonnaise for dipping.
