Maple Walnut Ice Cream
A creamy, homemade ice cream infused with pure maple syrup and crunchy walnuts.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
- Chopped walnuts - 1 cup
- Egg yolks - 6
- Pure maple syrup - 3/4 cup
- Whole milk - 1 cup
- Heavy cream - 2 cups
Let's Get Started
- In a medium saucepan, combine the heavy cream, milk, and maple syrup. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg yolks. Slowly pour the hot cream mixture into the yolks, whisking constantly.
- Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and coats the back of a spoon.
- Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and salt. Let the mixture cool to room temperature.
- Once cooled, pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions.
- During the last few minutes of churning, add the chopped walnuts.
- Transfer the ice cream to a lidded container and freeze until firm, at least 4 hours or overnight.
