Maple Walnut Ice Cream

Ingredients - Serves 4

Let's Get Started

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the heavy cream, milk, and maple syrup. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg yolks. Slowly pour the hot cream mixture into the yolks, whisking constantly.
  3. Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and coats the back of a spoon.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and salt. Let the mixture cool to room temperature.
  5. Once cooled, pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  6. During the last few minutes of churning, add the chopped walnuts.
  7. Transfer the ice cream to a lidded container and freeze until firm, at least 4 hours or overnight.
