Malabar Parotta
Malabar Parotta, also known as Kerala Parotta, is a popular Indian flatbread made with all-purpose flour and ghee.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Oil - 2 tablespoons
- Sugar - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Water - 1/2 cup
- Ghee - 2 tablespoons
- All-purpose flour - 2 cups
Let's Get Started
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, ghee, water, salt, and sugar. Knead the dough until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 20 minutes.
- Divide the dough into small balls and roll each ball into a thin, round disc.
- Heat a tawa or griddle over medium heat and brush it with oil.
- Place the rolled parotta on the hot tawa and cook until golden brown spots appear on both sides, flipping as needed.
- Remove from the tawa and gently press the parotta with your hands to separate the layers.
- Serve hot with your favorite curry or side dish.
