Laab
Laab is a traditional Thai dish made with minced meat, herbs, and spices. It is typically served as a salad or wrapped in lettuce leaves.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Lettuce leaves - For serving
- Thai chili peppers - 2, finely chopped
- Mint leaves - 1/4 cup, chopped
- Cilantro - 1/4 cup, chopped
- Green onions - 1/4 cup, chopped
- Red onion - 1/2 cup, thinly sliced
- Roasted rice powder - 2 tablespoons
- Fish sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Lime juice - 3 tablespoons
- Ground chicken or pork - 1 lb
Let's Get Started
- In a large skillet, cook the ground meat over medium heat until fully cooked and browned.
- In a small bowl, mix together the lime juice, fish sauce, and roasted rice powder.
- Add the lime juice mixture to the cooked meat and stir well to combine.
- Remove the skillet from heat and let the mixture cool for a few minutes.
- Add the red onion, green onions, cilantro, mint leaves, and Thai chili peppers to the meat mixture. Mix well.
- Serve the laab mixture on a platter, garnished with extra herbs if desired.
- To eat, take a lettuce leaf and spoon some laab mixture onto it. Wrap the lettuce leaf around the filling and enjoy!
