Käsekuchen
Käsekuchen is a traditional German cheesecake made with quark. It's light, creamy, and not overly sweet.
Ingredients - Serves 8
- Lemon zest - 1 tablespoon
- Baking powder - 2 teaspoons
- All-purpose flour - 1 cup
- Milk - 1/2 cup
- Quark - 2 cups
- Eggs - 4
- Vanilla extract - 1 teaspoon
- Sugar - 1 cup
- Butter - 1/2 cup, melted
Let's Get Started
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch springform pan.
- In a large bowl, combine the melted butter, sugar, and vanilla extract. Beat in the eggs one at a time.
- Mix in the quark and milk. Combine the flour and baking powder; mix into the batter along with the lemon zest.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
- Bake for 60 minutes in the preheated oven, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let cool completely before removing from the pan.
