  1. Peel the potatoes and cut into chunks. Boil until soft, then drain and mash.
  2. In a pan, cook the ground beef and onion until the beef is browned and the onion is soft. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Mix the mashed potatoes and beef mixture together. Shape into oval patties.
  4. Dip each patty into the flour, then the beaten egg, and finally the breadcrumbs.
  5. Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Fry the patties in the hot oil until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  7. Drain on paper towels before serving.
