Korokke
Korokke is a delicious Japanese dish made from mashed potato and ground meat, coated in breadcrumbs and deep-fried until golden brown.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Vegetable oil - For deep frying
- Panko breadcrumbs - 1 cup
- Eggs - 2, beaten
- Flour - 1/2 cup
- Salt and pepper - To taste
- Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Ground beef - 200 grams
- Potatoes - 4 large
Let's Get Started
- Peel the potatoes and cut into chunks. Boil until soft, then drain and mash.
- In a pan, cook the ground beef and onion until the beef is browned and the onion is soft. Season with salt and pepper.
- Mix the mashed potatoes and beef mixture together. Shape into oval patties.
- Dip each patty into the flour, then the beaten egg, and finally the breadcrumbs.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the patties in the hot oil until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- Drain on paper towels before serving.
