Korma
Chicken Korma is a flavorful Indian dish made with tender chicken cooked in a creamy and aromatic sauce.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Fresh cilantro - For garnish
- Salt - To taste
- Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
- Red chili powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin seeds - 1 teaspoon
- Ghee - 2 tablespoons
- Cashews - 1/4 cup, soaked in water
- Yogurt - 1/2 cup, whisked
- Ginger - 1-inch piece, grated
- Garlic - 4 cloves, minced
- Onion - 1 large, finely chopped
- Chicken - 500 grams, boneless and skinless, cut into pieces
Let's Get Started
- In a blender, grind the soaked cashews into a smooth paste.
- Heat ghee in a large pan over medium heat.
- Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.
- Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Add minced garlic and grated ginger. Cook for another minute.
- Add the chicken pieces and cook until they are lightly browned.
- Add coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.
- Reduce the heat to low and add the whisked yogurt. Stir continuously to avoid curdling.
- Add the cashew paste and mix well to combine.
- Cover the pan and let the chicken cook in the creamy sauce for about 20 minutes, or until tender.
- Sprinkle garam masala and garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
- Serve hot with steamed rice or naan bread.
