Korean BBQ Banh Mi
This fusion sandwich combines the flavors of Korean BBQ with the traditional Vietnamese banh mi.
Ingredients - Serves 2
- Sriracha sauce - To taste
- Pickled daikon and carrots - 1/2 cup
- Baguette - 1, split lengthwise
- Mayonnaise - 2 tablespoons
- Cilantro - 1/4 cup, chopped
- Cucumber - 1/2 cup, thinly sliced
- Carrots - 1/2 cup, julienned
- Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
- Brown sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Beef sirloin - 8 ounces, thinly sliced
Let's Get Started
- In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, brown sugar, and rice vinegar. Mix well.
- Add the thinly sliced beef to the marinade and let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
- Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the marinated beef slices for 2-3 minutes per side, or until cooked to your desired doneness.
- In a separate bowl, mix the julienned carrots, thinly sliced cucumber, and chopped cilantro.
- Spread mayonnaise on the split baguette.
- Layer the cooked beef slices on the baguette, followed by the pickled daikon and carrots mixture.
- Drizzle with sriracha sauce, if desired.
