  1. Remove the core from the cabbage and carefully peel off the leaves. Blanch the leaves in boiling water for a few minutes until they are soft and pliable. Set aside to cool.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, onion, rice, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  3. Place a scoop of the beef mixture onto each cabbage leaf. Fold in the sides and roll up the leaf to encase the meat. Secure with a toothpick if necessary.
  4. In a large pot, combine the tomato sauce and beef broth. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
  5. Add the cabbage rolls to the pot. Cover and simmer for about an hour, until the cabbage is tender and the meat is cooked through.
  6. Serve the cabbage rolls hot, with the sauce spooned over the top.
