Kofta Curry
This flavorful kofta curry is made with spiced meatballs simmered in a rich tomato-based gravy.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Fresh cilantro - For garnish
- Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
- Heavy cream - 1/4 cup
- Yogurt - 1/4 cup
- Tomatoes - 2 medium, pureed
- Oil - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - To taste
- Red chili powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Bread crumbs - 1/4 cup
- Cilantro - 1/4 cup, chopped
- Green chili - 1, finely chopped
- Ginger - 1-inch piece, grated
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Onion - 1 medium, finely chopped
- Ground beef - 500 grams
Let's Get Started
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, grated ginger, chopped green chili, chopped cilantro, bread crumbs, coriander powder, cumin powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well to combine.
- Shape the mixture into small meatballs (koftas) and set aside.
- Heat oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides. Remove the meatballs from the pan and set aside.
- In the same pan, add the pureed tomatoes and cook for a few minutes until the raw smell disappears.
- Add the yogurt and mix well. Cook for another 2-3 minutes.
- Add the heavy cream and garam masala. Stir to combine.
- Return the meatballs to the pan and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through and the gravy has thickened.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with rice or naan bread.
