Khao Niew Mamuang
A traditional Thai dessert known for its sweet sticky rice and fresh mango slices. It's a perfect balance of flavors and textures.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Toasted sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- Sugar - 1/2 cup
- Coconut milk - 1 cup
- Ripe mangoes - 2, peeled and sliced
- Sticky rice - 1 cup
Let's Get Started
- Rinse the sticky rice until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Drain the rice and steam it for 15-20 minutes until it's cooked.
- While the rice is cooking, heat the coconut milk in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the sugar and salt and stir until they're dissolved.
- Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a bowl and pour the coconut milk mixture over it. Stir well and let it sit for about 20 minutes to absorb the coconut milk.
- Serve the sticky rice with fresh mango slices on the side. Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds before serving.
