Khao Niew Mamuang
Khao Niew Mamuang, also known as Thai Mango Sticky Rice, is a delicious and popular Thai dessert made with sticky rice, fresh mango, and coconut sauce.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Coconut flakes - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
- Ripe mangoes - 2, sliced
- Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- Sugar - 1/4 cup
- Coconut milk - 1 cup
- Sticky rice - 1 cup
Let's Get Started
- Soak the sticky rice in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Drain the soaked rice and steam it for about 20-25 minutes, or until cooked and sticky.
- In a saucepan, heat the coconut milk, sugar, and salt over medium heat until the sugar is dissolved.
- Pour half of the coconut sauce over the cooked sticky rice and mix well. Let it sit for 10 minutes to absorb the flavors.
- In a serving plate, arrange the sliced mangoes.
- Place a portion of the sticky rice next to the mangoes.
- Drizzle some more coconut sauce over the sticky rice.
- Sprinkle sesame seeds and coconut flakes on top for garnish.
- Serve the Khao Niew Mamuang warm or at room temperature.
