Keema Matar
Keema Matar is a delicious Indian dish made with minced meat and peas, cooked in a flavorful blend of spices.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Fresh cilantro - For garnish
- Oil - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - To taste
- Garam masala - 1/2 teaspoon
- Cumin powder - 1 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Red chili powder - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Peas - 1 cup, frozen or fresh
- Tomato - 2 medium, chopped
- Green chili - 1, finely chopped
- Ginger - 1-inch piece, grated
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Onion - 1 large, finely chopped
- Ground beef or lamb - 500 grams
Let's Get Started
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Add the chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Add minced garlic, grated ginger, and green chili. Sauté for another minute.
- Add the ground meat and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon.
- Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they soften.
- Add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder, and salt. Mix well.
- Cover the pan and let the meat cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add the peas and cook for another 5 minutes, until they are tender.
- Sprinkle garam masala and mix well.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot with rice or naan bread.
