Kao Tom
Kao Tom is a comforting and flavorful Thai rice soup made with fragrant jasmine rice, chicken broth, and various toppings.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Lime - 1, cut into wedges
- Cilantro - 1/4 cup, chopped
- Green onions - 2, chopped
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Fish sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1-inch piece, sliced
- Chicken breast - 1, cooked and shredded
- Chicken broth - 4 cups
- Jasmine rice - 1 cup
Let's Get Started
- Rinse the jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Drain well.
- In a large pot, bring the chicken broth to a boil.
- Add the jasmine rice, ginger, and garlic to the pot. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 15-20 minutes, or until the rice is cooked and tender.
- Stir in the shredded chicken, fish sauce, and soy sauce. Cook for an additional 5 minutes.
- Remove the ginger slices from the soup.
- Serve the Kao Tom hot, garnished with chopped green onions, cilantro, and a squeeze of lime juice.
