Kao Niew Moo Yang
A popular Thai street food dish, Kao Niew Moo Yang combines the smoky flavor of grilled pork with the unique texture of sticky rice.
Ingredients - Serves 4
- Water - 3 cups
- Sticky rice - 2 cups
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon, ground
- Coriander - 1 teaspoon, ground
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Brown sugar - 2 tablespoons
- Soy sauce - 1/4 cup
- Pork shoulder - 1 pound, thinly sliced
Let's Get Started
- In a bowl, combine the pork, soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, coriander, and black pepper. Marinate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
- Soak the sticky rice in water for at least 2 hours, or overnight if possible. Drain.
- Steam the sticky rice for 15-20 minutes, or until it becomes translucent and sticky.
- Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
- Grill the marinated pork for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until it is cooked through and slightly charred.
- Serve the grilled pork with the sticky rice.
