Jólaglögg
Jólaglögg is a traditional Icelandic Christmas drink made with red wine, spices, and citrus fruits.

- Almonds - 1/4 cup, slivered
- Raisins - 1/4 cup
- Sugar - 1/4 cup
- Lemon - 1, sliced
- Orange - 1, sliced
- Cardamom pods - 5
- Cinnamon sticks - 2
- Cloves - 10
- Red wine - 1 bottle
Let's Get Started
- In a large pot, combine the red wine, cloves, cinnamon sticks, cardamom pods, orange slices, lemon slices, sugar, raisins, and slivered almonds.
- Heat the mixture over low heat, stirring occasionally, until it is hot but not boiling. Let it simmer for about 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
- Strain the Jólaglögg to remove the spices, fruits, and nuts.
- Serve the Jólaglögg warm in mugs or glasses, garnished with a cinnamon stick or orange slice if desired.
